An amount of Rs 1103 crore proposed for Punjab under the campaign

The Union Education Ministry has allocated a budget provision of Rs 1102.91 crore for the Samagra Shiksha Yojana for school education in Punjab for the fiscal year 2022-23.

This initiative aims to enhance the quality of education in the state. The allocated amount will be shared in a 60:40 ratio between the Central and State governments.

Of this total allocation, Rs 661.75 crore is proposed as central funding, while the remaining Rs 441.16 crore will be provided by the state government for various educational components, including elementary education, secondary education, and more.

Specifically, the Ministry has set aside Rs 707.73 crore for primary education and Rs 378.62 crore for secondary education.

In addition, Rs 16.55 crore is earmarked for the State Educational Research and Testing Council and District Education and Training Institute.

The final outlay of the budget will be determined during the Project Approval Board meeting, based on the annual work plan and budget submitted by the State Government.

It’s worth noting that a budget of Rs 1126 crore has been approved for Punjab by the Ministry of Education, which includes the remaining amount of Rs 47.33 crore from the previous year.
