Assam Punya Tirtha Yojana: The Assam government launched an initiative during a cabinet meeting on February 12. It’s called Assam Punya Tirtha Yojana that aims to provide access to the Ram temple in Ayodhya to approximately 25,000 devotees this year.

The unveiling of Assam’s state budget for 2024–25 on Monday marks a significant stride towards safeguarding religious heritage and promoting spiritual tourism.

The budget places a strong emphasis on the development of sattras, monastic institutions established during the Neo-Vaishnavite reformist movement of the 16th century, and the facilitation of pilgrimages.

Notably, a substantial financial allocation of Rs 240 crore has been earmarked for the preservation of the revered Batadrava’s interior and exterior structures.

The Punya Tirtha Yojana will facilitate the pilgrimage of 25,000 devotees to the Ram Mandir.

Eligibility for Assam Punya Tirtha Yojana

If you are one of the applicants, you need to satisfy the following eligibility criteria:

  • The applicant’s age should range between 18 and 35 years.
  • Candidates falling under the SC, ST, or PwD categories have a maximum age limit of 40 years.
  • Families covered by the KALIA/BSKY Scheme or those with annual incomes below Rs. 2 lakh are eligible.
  • Applicants are required to have either a UDYAM-supported number or be registered.


Applicants’ Excluded from Assam Punya Tirtha Yojana

The following individuals are ineligible for the scheme:

  • Employees and their families employed by the state, central government, or any PSU, as well as legislative bodies.
  • Individuals who are defaulters with any bank or financial institution, or who possess outstanding loans from any Central or State Government Scheme intended for the same purpose.

Assam Punya Tirtha Scheme Implementation

The following procedures will be employed to implement the plan:

  • Applicants can register and submit their applications to the Bank using a dedicated webpage.
  • Alternatively, applicants may utilize the online application services offered by Mo-Seva Kendra.
  • Upon receiving the application, the beneficiary’s designated bank will conduct document and field verification.
  • During the field verification, the bank will assist the applicant in preparing the necessary simplified DPR (Detailed Project Report) to approve the loan.
  • Upon approval and the applicant’s deposit of margin funds, the banks will disburse the loan amount to the applicant.
  • Committees will be established at the State, District, and Block levels to oversee the efficient execution of the Scheme.


Registration Process for Assam Punya Tirtha Yojana

The Assam Punya Tirtha Yojana has been recently introduced and approved by the Odisha Cabinet. Although the government has not yet launched the official website for this scheme, it is expected to be available soon.
